Depression that we all know is a mental condition that eats the person from inside and this person without any visible reason keeps on feeling bad. Many scholars refer to Surah AD Dhuha of the Quran for the solution of depression but then most people don’t find anything or at least are not able to get a permanent solution, the only reason for this is lack of action and correct understanding. When you pray for something you need to take actions as well accordingly as Allah says in the Quran:

“And when My servants ask you, concerning Me – indeed I am near. I respond to the invocation of the supplicant when he calls upon Me. So let them respond to Me [by obedience] and believe in Me that they may be [rightly] guided.”(2:186)

Allah says you must take action as we definitely provide you the solution and answer your prayer, but then it is us who need to take the answer of Almighty. When we say Surah AD Dhuha provides peace to the Heart, let’s understand how? It is difficult to find the reason for depression but it is mostly because of the dissatisfaction in life and that does not necessarily lack money or resources but there is something inside which keeps you unhappy but again the real reason is your approach towards the situations, people mostly find it difficult to keep themselves motivated in facing it which results in giving up but once perception changes problems occurring because of that will automatically solve. When you see a doctor for an illness doctor prescribe you certain medicine and also ask you to refrain from certain things, if you just read this prescription nothings going to change and even unless you don’t follow it completely it will not benefit hence it’s compulsory to follow the guidelines completely. Now see Surah AD Dhuha as a remedy to your problems though I have tried explaining you may find more in that to do.

Surah AD Dhuha – a motivation & solution for depression

1. By the morning light

In the very fist, Ayah Allah swears upon the morning light, as it comes to start a new day, it tells us every second is a new phase of life for you there are many brighter aspects, many opportunities available for you which can be a source of the new life like morning light changes the perspective of everything after everything was on standstill there is suddenly now movements, things are clearer energy is higher similarly if you will focus on the aspects which provide you opportunities to grow and develop you will find a complete change in your life. Ponder more and more on this ayah and on the morning light and see what it provides.

2. And the night as it settles.

This ayah reminds us of the time where most of the life shuts up but in it, there is peace as well, unlike the day where you were busy with all sort of works now you have time to restore your energy, collect your thoughts and disturbance is minimal during this time. In life also there are times where you find situations darker and it seems like everything is stopped however this can be the best time to work on yourself calmly because external disturbances and factors are bothering you much and the only way is to look forward. Don’t be afraid of this time but take it as a chance to prepare yourself for success. Also in these Ayahs, there is the unsaid rule, why darkness comes, why all the light disappears there are positives in that to keep you balanced and in the right direction as if you keep working and be in one state there are chances you might miss important aspects of life. But learning is only for those who try to explore the factors which will help them grow and become successful.

3. Your Lord did not abandon you, nor did He forget.

Now here is an assurance and it is not mere verbal assurance, you are alive and this is the evidence that your Lord still didn’t abandon you, he still is giving a chance to you because you can still think you still have many resources with you which makes it clear that you are not done yet. Be assured that the laws of Allah are still there if he has promised that he will surely make you successful if you are following the ways given by Almighty you have all the chances to be satisfied.

4. The life or time to come is better for you than the First or the time which has passed.

5. And your Lord will give you, and you will be satisfied.

If you are following the first three ayahs it is a promise that your coming days will be better than the ones which have passed and that is the Law of Allah which is certain and undoubtedly true. Someone of higher stature when promises something it gives immense satisfaction but here it is the Lord of everything is promising you something which you should always keep and mind and keep reminding it to yourself. Allah is saying you will be gaining a state of complete satisfaction and nothing will bother you, issues will disappear and rewards will be in abundance.

6. Did He not find you orphaned, and sheltered you?
7. And found you wandering, and guided you?
8. And found you in need, and enriched you?

Here Allah is giving you some evidence that looks at your previous life there were many situations where you were like an orphan, you didn’t have any support but he still provided you the shelter and escaped you from many difficulties.

Take an example of yourself when you were in a womb it was Allah who kept you alive and then when you were born there many factors that could have taken your life but Allah was protecting you. Also, Allah says that in many matters you were unguided you were wandering but you got the guidance, similarly, it is Allah who can still take your life where you think it is impossible to reach, situations of previous days were more dangerous and threatening, and but if he can take you out from there it is very easy for him to guide you now, you were in dire needs but he fulfilled them so don’t care about what you have now but follow the guidance and take actions as instructed by him and keep practicing what he said to get the success.

9. Therefore, do not mistreat the orphan.
10. Nor rebuff the seeker.

Now two Ayahs which tell you what not to do, no matter in what situation you have never mistreated the ones who don’t have support, they are alone and helpless do not ever mistreat them, mistreating is not only to shout and say something bad to them but by actions do not anything by which they will be badly affected like wasting your resources, doing something for your benefit which hurts the weaker section. Also do not repel the seekers if you have something which can be helpful for them do it, do not try to unaffiliate yourself from them.

11. But proclaim the blessings of your Lord.

This is a golden rule keep your focus on what you have and more importantly proclaim that do not always go to people crying for what you don’t have but establish the blessings you have and if you are thinking of something which you don’t have to make it constructive and plan how to achieve it as it can not be gained by telling people about your miseries. This will keep you motivated and this is also the law to increase the blessing as Allah says in Quran “And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, ‘If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.’ (14:7)

These are the practical solutions and a complete step by step process to living your life and face challenges All of the above is beneficial if we want to be benefited from it, We need to set our mindset right and in this process, there would be many ups and downs but then again go through the ayahs and their promises.
